Macao Advantages

Over the next decade, Asia is set to become a major driver of global economic growth. Leveraging its dual positioning as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure” and a “Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, Macao is committed to developing into “an exchange and co-operation base where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”, providing global innovators and investors with a unique gateway to market opportunities.

Seizing the Opportunities of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area
With the full support of the Central Government, Macao, as one of the core cities of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and a key hub along the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Macao Innovation and Technology Corridor, is well positioned to further develop into an international centre for technological innovation and a world-class source of technological innovation.
A Vast Market of 1.9 Billion People across Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries
Serving as a gateway for innovators seeking access to the Mainland Chinese market, Macao is well positioned to capture the immense opportunities arising from China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. By fully leveraging its role as the Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Macao serves as a strategic connector linking enterprises with global opportunities.

Driving Industrial Innovation with Multi-billion Investment to Foster Economic Diversification
The Macao SAR Government is committed to promoting appropriate economic diversification and has incorporated the “1+4” economic diversification strategy into both its Five-Year Development Plan and annual Policy Address. To accelerate technological innovation and industrial transformation, the Government has committed substantial financial resources to supporting innovation-driven development.

Benefits of Regional Collaboration
To implement the coordinated development model of “Macao-based R&D, Hengqin-based Commercialisation”, and to accelerate the integrated development of the innovation and technology industries in Macao and Hengqin, the Guangdong–Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin has introduced a range of policy measures, including tax incentives and business support schemes. By aligning with relevant Macao policies, complementary funding is provided for projects that transfer research outcomes to the Cooperation Zone for pilot testing, commercialisation and industrial deployment.
